There is no shortage of day trip opportunities from London, and one of the most exciting destinations has to be Oxford. What better way to see this historical city than with your own personal chauffeur? Our London chauffeur service will whisk you from the capital to Oxford, a city with a rich architectural heritage and home to the English-speaking world’s oldest established university. At Chauffeur One, our aim is to take you where you want to go in comfort and style.

From the heart of Central London in Westminster, Oxford is a drive of approximately 60 miles, making it an ideal destination for a day trip. Any visit to Oxford represents an opportunity to discover the delightful landscape of Oxfordshire, from the idyllic villages dotted about the Oxfordshire Cotswolds to the surrounding lush countryside.

The city of Oxford has many interesting tourist sights. The prestigious Oxford University, which dates back to the 11th century, has a total of 38 constituent colleges around the city. Visitors can walk around the college grounds and enjoy the magnificent architecture. Shopping in Oxford can be a relaxed experience, with a relatively small city centre occupied by chain stores and a number of independent shops. These include Boswells Department Store, opened in 1738, and Blackwell’s Bookshop, which houses the largest single room for book sales throughout Europe. The Oxford Covered Market is worth a visit, with various traders selling fresh food and gifts. For magnificent views over Oxford and its surroundings, there are four towers to choose from – Carfax Tower, Oxford Castle, St. Mary the Virgin Church and St. Michael at the North Gate Church.

Oxford’s cultural highlights extend beyond the university and its various colleges. The city has a number of museums, including the Museum of Oxford and Science Oxford. A visit to the Bodleian Library is another must. The main research library for Oxford University, the Bodleian has some fine architecture that has been used as a backdrop in a number of television and film productions, including the Harry Potter series.

A visit to Oxford would not be complete without a punt along one of the local rivers, the Thames or the Cherwell. The flat-bottomed punts move gently down the river being propelled by pushing a long pole into the riverbed. This is a relaxing way to spend an hour or two.

For visiting sights immediately outside Oxford, a chauffeur-driven car is a great option. Blenheim Palace was the birthplace of Winston Churchill and is a wonderful example of Baroque architecture from the 18th century. The Cotswold village of Bampton is the setting for the village in Downton Abbey and is well worth a visit, especially if you are a fan of the hugely popular television series.
