A few days before Christmas, the Prime Minister’s chauffeur driven car came to the rescue after a five year old girl was taken ill while attending a party at 10 Downing Street.

Savannah Nicholls and her mother were attending a charity Christmas party, organised by the charity Together for Short Lives, at the Prime Minister’s official London residence. Savannah has been dogged by ill health throughout her life being diagnosed with leukaemia when she was just three months old. She has also suffered epilepsy and cerebral palsy.

The Christmas party should have been a happy event, but poor Savannah was taken with shortness of breath alarming her mother Lisa who began ringing for a taxi to take her to hospital. It was at that point that Downing Street officials stepped in and immediately offered the use of the Prime Minister’s chauffeur driven car.

The chauffeur rushed Savannah and her mother to London’s St Thomas’s where she was admitted with a severe chest infection. Once her condition improved, she was relocated to Treliske Hospital in Cornwall close to the family home although this time without the use of David Cameron’s executive car.

Brave Savannah has since recovered and at least got to enjoy some of the party where she briefly met the Prime Minister but more importantly also spent time with Children’s television star, Mr Tumble who may not have a chauffeur driven car but is a lot more fun!
